Field Trip

This month our home school co-op has had some great field trips. We are so blessed to have a great group of kids and mom’s to meet with. We all have such a great time. This year we have been focusing on the Medeival Ages time period. The first destination was to the Berman Museum in Anniston, AL. The collection was gathered over several decades by Mr. and Mrs. Berman who were spies during WWII. The docent even took us down to the basement vaults and let the kids TOUCH and HANDLE many items that were hundreds of years old!!! They were encouraged to do this!!! I was amazed, as were my children.

Here are some pics from that day of hands on learning.

Can you imagine setting about 3 dozen children loose with these?

Thankfully the kids were very orderly!

Then we visited the Natural History Museum next door. VERY COOL! They had an exhibit on how chocolate came down through the ages.

One thing missing on these little trips is this, my baby man.

My oldest son, Ian. After much hesitation on my part, we placed him in public school this year. Thankfully, this mom’s heart can rest easy as he transitioned beautifully.

If You Build It, It Will Come...Eventually

Would you believe me if I said I can't post because I can't figure out a good blog name??? Silly me! I come up with all kinds of posts and random things that I want to share and remember, but won't dive in. This is so like me. So, here I am and about to jump in head first. A name will come later. I've come up with several (I may share those at a later date.)

On to other news...

Japan

The story that is unfolding in that beautiful country is so heartbreaking. Tragedy after tragedy on those poor people. Many prayers will be lifted on their behalf. I could not imagine what they must be experiencing.

Here at home, we are taking a week of spring break along with the local public schools. I have really needed this time lately as I've been experiencing the springtime "burnout." I'm hoping that this week of kid driven fun and rest will renew us all.

Posting some pics midway, just to see how this works...Pics taken about 1 1/2 years ago. Eldest son headed to Excelsior Co-op and my middle two working on the solar system.
OK that was messed up! Why did that show up at the top? Like everything else, I'll figure it out as I go, then I'll look back and laugh at this later.
Bye for now :)
