Around the World In One Evening

For several years now, our family has participated in our cover school's mini event, "Taste of Nations." Each family involved will do a unit study on a country of their choice and bring a sampling of food from that region. It's great fun, and the kids learn so much. As the eveing draws to a close, everyone casts their vote on top 3 most liked foods and the worst food of the evening. We all have laughs remembering past foods that tasted rather, well, quite disgusting. One year, a family made fish soup that stunk up the entire series of rooms that night. ( I'll have to say, it did smell worse than it tasted though.)

Here are some pics from the evening:

This years we chose to study Norway. What a beautiful country! We made Norwegian Vaffles topped with raspberry preserves and a choice of sour cream or yogurt.

Here are just a small sampling of some other countries from that night

Amelia and her friend Susanna

Altogether it was very fun and we enjoyed the night. I'm sure there will be more countries to study in the years ahead.
